Save the date! Our next delicious brunch will be Saturday May 15, 9 am at Bethany Baptist Church in Salem Oregon.
What’s new about this brunch? We are adding Peaches and Cream Stuffed French Toast to our buffet. Not to worry, Kathy will still serve the now infamous Creme Brulee French Toast. The other big “what’s new” is that you do not have to RSVP! Although it would be fun to know if you’re coming(-:
What else is new? Some delightfully delicious Rwandan grown coffee, a book club update, and a report on our first Rwandan sister project. Oh and you won’t want to miss the chance to win some gift cards to our new favorite salad restaurant in town, The Salad Express thanks to our good friend Cindy Thomas.
We’re hoping our new friends from Capitol Baptist join us again. Feel free to invite your friends for a fun morning of sisterhood, great food, and brunching with a purpose.

Our first brunch was such a hit that we are going to serve this delicious recipe again next time, but until then, here is the recipe. Several of you have asked for it. It is also included in the Journal/Program given out at the meetings.
The recipe!
Ingredients
1/2 cup unsalted butter
1 cup packed brown sugar
2 tablespoons corn syrup
6 French bread
5 eggs
1 1/2 cups half-and-half cream
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon brandy-based orange liqueur (such as Grand Marnier®)
1/4 teaspoon salt
Directions
Melt butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Mix in brown sugar and corn syrup, stirring until sugar is dissolved. Pour into a 9×13 inch baking dish.
Remove crusts from bread, and arrange in the baking dish in a single layer. In a small bowl, whisk together eggs, half and half, vanilla extract, orange brandy, and salt. Pour over the bread. Cover, and chill at least 8 hours, or overnight.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Remove the dish from the refrigerator, and bring to room temperature.
Bake uncovered 35 to 40 minutes in the preheated oven, until puffed and lightly browned.
*Challah bread and a glass pan works best

Dear Agnes Day Society Sisters!
The Creme Brulee was such a hit that we want to serve it again. Several of the MOPS ladies wanted to attend but couldn’t due to the Summit.
I’ve received lots of great feedback about the brunch Saturday from regulars and newcomers and was delighted to have 4 completely new to Bethany ladies attend.
Praise God for bringing in $180.00 for the project! That amount will sponsor our Rwandan sister for several months! I’m working with my sister Serena Morones on those details and will update you all. Be praying about how we can also sponsor a second women through Africa New Life Ministries. That program is $60.00 a month.
My good friend’s sister came. Christina works as a nurse at the Salem hospital and had a chance to travel to Uganda two years ago on a medical mission trip. It was a joy to me to hook up with Christina the night before at a different event and invite her at the last minute.
God just continues to work out the details of things once we decide to “step into the story.”
A big thanks to everyone who came and helped make the brunch happen, you are truly characters in God’s story!
If you are a reader, don’t forget to pick up a copy of “As we Forgive: Stories of Reconciliation and Forgiveness in Rwanda.” At our next meeting, I’ll be sharing some highlights from this book.
Check your calendars to see if the next dates works for you. I’ve penciled them in on the church calendar.
May 15, Sat 9am
June 19, Sat 9am
July 17, Sat 9am

If you missed the delicious Creme Brulee French Toast at the Agnes Day Society brunch last week, you are in luck! We are serving it again next month, Saturday at 9 am May 15!
In addition, our talented chef Kathy will be adding Stuffed Peach French Toast to the brunch menu!
Aside from the wonderfully delicious meal and great Rwandan coffee, you’ll have a chance to connect with friends over a shared meal, and have an opportunity to participate in the Rwandan Sister project.
No need to RSVP us for this brunch, come at the last minute, we’ll just cook up more great food.
